I have ditched my gas guzzling vehicles for an older 4 cylinder honda from the mid 1970's that's rare, stands out, and gets great fuel mileage.
And on nice days, I ride my 40-50 mile per gallon Harley Davidson motorcycle to work, or to the store if the purchased items can fit in the saddle bags.
I've also reduced the amount of miles I drive. My family and I try to do everything we need at one trip to save fuel. No more going to my in laws 2-3 times a week (This is what I would call a collateral benefit!), no more unnecessary trips to the store, etc.
But there's a down side, staying home more makes the electric bill rise. So I have switched most of the bulbs in the house to flourescent in hopes to reduce that cost as well.
If we all do our part, we can make a difference together.
